| Grafton DBM has been FDA (510k) cleared as a bone graft substitute, bone graft extender, and bone void filler in bony voids or gaps of the skeletal system (i.e. spine, pelvis and extremities) not intrinsic to the stability of the bony structure. | ||
Osteoinductivity
Grafton DBM has the most osteoinductive response of all the DBM product offerings tested, as proven in the athymic rat model, which is the recognized standard for assessing osteoinductivity. (2)New bone is formed by the active recruitment of stem cells, with the potential to differentiate into bone-forming cells. Of the products tested: Osteofil, Dynagraft II, Allomatrix, DBX, Accell DBM 100, Intergro DBM, and Orthoblast II; Grafton DBM has the most robust osteoinductive response.(2)

Bone Fibers Make the Difference
Osteotech is the exclusive producer of the only commercially available demineralized bone product with patented Bone Fiber Technology. Bone fibers, instead of bone particles - as is found in competitive DBMs - create a physical network of pathways for bone forming cells to follow. Studies show that a graft material which provides an osteoconductive scaffold for new bone to build upon aids in the healing process.(3)| Martin, G.J., Boden, S.D., Titus, L., and Scarborough, N.L.: New Formulations of Demineralized Bone Matrix as a More Effective Graft Alternative in Experimental Posterolateral Lumbar Spine Arthodesis. - Demineralized Bone Fibers support osteogenesis and osteoconduction
- Grafton DBM is the only DBM shown to enhance autograft in Non-human Primate Model
- Osteotech's unique Fiber Technology is also found in the Xpanse® Bone Insert.
